Owner/Manager Profile

I have been running Ambary House for over three years now. The two-bedroom private villa is the embodiment of my love of meeting people from different cultures, traveling to excotic places and traditional architecture.

Running Ambary House in this excotic island of Gili Trawangan offers me the opportunities to meet and get to know people from across the globe, some of whom become personal friends of mine, while also allows me to help finance my love of buidling places based on the traditional architecture of Bali and Java islands, the birthplaces of my parents.

My professional background is in financial journalism, which also offers me the chance to meet a lot of people from different walks of life and visit various places.

I spent 15 years working as a journalist with an international media company, covering Indonesia’s economy, the biggest in Southeast Asia, focussing on the stock market as well as the bond market.

I love travelling and being in either the media and the hotel industry both of which offers me the chance to meet a lot of people and see different places. The only difference now is that I now act mostly as the host receiving guests while in the past I mostly acted as a guest visiting places for my work as a journalist.

I wish you have a pleasant and relaxing stay at my place.
